Lee Roy Selmon's story combines family football scholarship and volunteerism in the community. First family he is the youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. The second football was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award as the nation's best lineman. In his time as Oklahoma's starting quarterback The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and won two national titles. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third time in the year 1975. Selmon received a diploma in education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service consisted of ten hours a week of volunteer time in college. Following college, he moved to Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers was an all-pro three times before beginning a business career. The first job he had was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when the year 1982 was when the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people across the nation. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds in the time he played football at college. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the group. In 1993, he was a part of his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame through The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
