Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and a businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist and author, television personality and owner of the independently liberal online newspaper The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she moved to England when she was just 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. When she was 21, she was president of the well-known debating group The Cambridge Union' and was the very first foreign student who was elected to this position. In the years following her graduation, she became an influential conservative journalist who was syndicated. A few more years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political landscape. Her status as a celebrity helped in getting several high-profile contributors to share their opinions regarding news in the field of culture and politics. Arianna gained fame after she decided in 2003 to run as an Independent Candidate for the California Recall Election to replace Governor Davis. She also headed a Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Forbes identified her as being the 12th most influential woman in media in 2009, and Guardian added her to the top 100 list of media the same year. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the director of its media company with other AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was the youngest daughter of Konstantinos journalist father who was also a business consultant. Although she had a close friendship with both her parents, it was their bond which helped mold her. She displayed leadership qualities even in her early years. When she was 16 she moved to United Kingdom to pursue her studies. She enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. In her college years, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first female president, and also the only foreign president. In 1972, she graduated with a Master's Degree in Economics. She worked as a music critic as well as a host on TV and a columnist after her graduation. She also appeared along with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editing assistance.
