April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US She is one of a small group of women who have been awarded medals at multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman, taking part for the very first time at the Tokyo Olympics is hoping to secure her third medal. Ross is hoping to secure an Olympic debut gold, however, she also hopes to earn more. It could be the last opportunity she gets at age 39. But she's still certain of taking top honors. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and her sister were residents in the area. Ross played in numerous sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as track and running. She was clearly the best player in indoor volleyball. According to her bio her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a setting (outside blocker). Thanks to her hard work she was named the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in the year 2000. Ross and Klineman started their relationship in 2017 However, Ross has been a beach player for years prior to. She actually won numerous major events in the past with two different partners. one of whom is an icon of volleyball. She teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's coach. Together, Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international circuit winning a world title in 2009. The duo would go into winning a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio that could take home the gold. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball trophy at Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross played for the Trojans of USC in her college years before becoming a professional. It was a successful run for Ross at the school. The year 2000 was her freshman year. saw her earn the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year awards and be an All-American. Also, she was a key player to help the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. She endured a great personal defeat in her sophomore year however, she was successful in achieving the All-American distinction. In her last two seasons in the Trojans in the program they won victories by winning the national title in consecutive years. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the best collegiate female volleyball player in the US according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross who was a USC international relations student was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross did not get to witness Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. Ross's mom died from cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. She continues to remember her deceased parent close and dear. Margie has inspired her both in her personal life and at the beach.
