Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised in the suburbs of Barcelona The singer has been described as being an "atypical pop artist" due to her genre-bending musical styles. 9 years ago, at the age of 13, she fell in love with Spanish folk music and enrolled in musicology at Catalonia College of Music. She also performed at weddings as well as music bars. The project reinvented flamenco and mingled it with pop and hip-hop. The two singles "Malamente", and "Pienso En Tu Mira" were a hit among the Spanish public , and were met with universal critical acclaim. [11] Recipient of the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and included in Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the ascendance of Rosalia into the world music scene. Rosalia, who explored urbano music in her albums of 2019 "Con Altura", and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi", had global success. With her third studio album Motomami (2022) she introduced reggaeton with an original approach, deviating slightly from the original flamenco vibe. The album's lead singles "La Fama", and "Saoko" have caught the attention of global audiences and was the most reviewed album on Metacritic. Rosalia has amassed ten number-one singles throughout her career in her country of birth. This is the highest number for an artist from that area. She has also won two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year wins) and four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among others. Billboard has awarded her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing today's mainstream music sound through her flamenco-influenced pop"[18The award was presented to her in 18. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She was born in a family with no artistic heritage and is the youngest child of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family business that is specialized in metalworking. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. The couple divorced in the year 2019. The older sister of Rosalia, Pilar Vila, who was born in 1989, is her stylist.
